David Nepomuceno was the first Olympian from the Philippines and the country’s sole competitor at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

At the age of 24, he specialized in 100m sprints. He participated in the 100m and 200m dashes. Along with fellow Filipino Fortunato Catalon, he was considered a world-class sprinter in the mid-1920s, competing frequently in the Far East. Duringthe 1925 Far Eastern Games, he won gold in the 200m and silver in the 100m (behind Catalon) and achieved a personal best in the 100m event. In the 1927 Far Eastern Games, he took gold in the 100m and bronze in the 200m.

Nepomuceno served as a sailor in the United States Navy and died on duty in 1939. 09/27/1939
