Simplicio de Castro was a boxer who competed as a welterweight in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany.

He competed in his first and only Olympic Games at the age of 22 in 1936. He defeated Metty Sancassiani of Luxembourg in the first round. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the welterweight class after losing his fight to Roger Tritz of France.

A soldier, De Castro was killed during the so-called Battle of the Pockets in Bataan in January 1942, serving in the 1st Infantry Regiment under Alfredo Santos who, in the 1960s, became Chief of Staff of the Philippines’ Armed Forces.
