Francisca Sanopal was one of the first Filipina delegates in the Olympics who participated in the 80m hurdle and 100m women’s event during this time. She competed in the 1956 summer Olympics held in Melbourne, Australia.

Sanopal was considered as one of the Philippines’ best female low hurdlers in the 1950s as she gained more recognition when she won medals in the 1958 Asian Games with 2 silvers and a gold and silver in the 1962 Asian Games.
