Jose Agdamag was a World War II veteran and a retired Army Colonel who competed in the 50-meter free pistol event of the 1960 and 1968 Olympic Games. He placed 53rd out of 67 competitors in the 1960 Games in Rome 61st out of 69 shooters in the 1968 Games in Mexico.

In his retirement, Colonel Agdamag co wrote with his son Vicente, an Admiral in the Philippine Navy, the book “150 Days of Hell -- Japanese Invasion of the Philippines" detailing his experience in the infamous Bataan Death March. He eventually moved to California, USA, where he died in March 2011.
