Bana Sailani was a swimmer who competed in the Olympics in 1956 held in Melbourne, Australia and in 1960 held in Rome, Italy.

Although Sailani didn’t win medals as a two-time Olympian swimmer, he still managed to reach the 10th spot in the 1960 Rome Olympics.

He harvested his medals from his stints in 1954, 1958 and 1962 Asian games garnering silvers and bronzes both for individual and team relays. He was voted “Athlete of the Year” in 1953 and was voted “Swimmer of the Year” in 1954 and 1958.

Even after his retirement, his passion for swimming continued as he draws his legacy to future athletes as well as to non-swimmers in the military, Ateneo and Makati Sports Club.
