Bernardo San Juan was a former shooter who was fortunate enough to participate in the Olympics representing the country not only once, but thrice. He competed in the summer Olympics in 1960, 1964 and 1968.

His period in the Olympic arena had a four-year gap which gave him more space to train in his chosen field.
Born in Cardona, Rizal, the Tagalog native also had a chance to compete in the 1966 Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand winning a silver for the 50-metre small-bore riffle three positions event.
