Robert Jaworski Sr. was a basketball player who participated in the 1968 Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City. He was 22 years old when he competed in his first and only Olympic Games where the Philippines placed 13th out of 16 countries overall.

In 1966, Jaworski was part of the amateur selection sent to represent the country in the Bangkok Asian Games. The following year, he represented the country in the Asian Basketball Championship (ABC) in Seoul, South Korea where the Philippines won the gold medal by beating the host country in the finals.
Jaworski played in the Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA) league for Meralco, later transferring to Komatsu (which eventually became Toyota). Jaworski was the court general who led Komatsu to the 1973 MICAA title. He was also part of the 1973 and 1974 Philippine teams that regained the ABC crown and went to the FIBA World Championships.

Jaworski turned professional when the Philippine Basketball Association was established in 1975 and eventually became its most famous player. He later on became a playing coach of Ginebra San Miguel, winning four championships. He holds the record as the oldest man to ever play in the PBA (at 50 years old0. He has been named as one of PBA's 40 Greatest Players and inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Jaworski also served as coach of the Philippine basketball team in 1990, mentoring the first all-professional squad to a silver medal finish in the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing, China where they lost to the host country in the finals.

After his retirement in 1998, he was elected Senator of the Philippines and served for six years.
