Jaime L. Mariano was a 6’3” basketball player who appeared at the Olympic Games as a member of the country's national basketball team for the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico.
He was the flag bearer of the Philippines at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. He primarily played as the power forward, also flexibly filling in as the small forward and center. Mariano began his coaching career in 1981 with Presto Fun Drinks in the Philippine Basketball Association.
He also coached the Red Bull in the Philippine Basketball League. In 1990, he returned to Presto and led the team to the 1990 PBA All-Filipino championship, his only PBA title.
