Having competed in the Summer Olympics in 1972 at München, West Germany and in 1976 at Montréal, Canada Gerardo “Ral” Rosario was two-time Olympian swimmer who also competed in the Asian games. Ral won a several medals in the Asian games. In 1974 he won two silvers in backstroke, 2 bronze in freestyle relay, and 1 bronze in medley relay. While in 1978, he won two bronze in medley relay and freestyle relay.

In 2016, he was awarded as a hall of famer along with other 16 athletes by the Philippine Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2017 he was elected as an OIC for Philippine Swimming, Inc. (PSI), the governing body of swimming in the Philippines.
