Gillian Akiko Thomson was a swimmer who competed in the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Summer Olympic Games. She is the most accomplished Filipina swimmer in the Southeast Asian Games having won eight gold medals in the biennial multi-sport meet between 1987 and 1993.

Thomson began swimming at age six and competed in her first Olympic games at the age of 14.

At the 1988 Summer Olympics, she finished 30th out of 50 participants in the women’s 50m freestyle, 39th out of 57 in the 100 m freestyle, and 28th out of 41 in the 100m backstroke event. At the 1992 Summer Olympics, she finished 34th out of 48 participants in the 100m freestyle, 29th out of 37 in the 200m freestyle, 18th out of 45 in the 100m backstroke, and 19th out of 43 in the 200m backstroke event.

At the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, she finished 51st out of 55 participants in the 50m freestyle, 28th out of 36 in the 100m backstroke, 29th out of 33 in the 200m backstroke, and 38th out of 43 in the 200m Individual Medley event.

Among the tournaments she competed in are the 1987 and 1991 Southeast Asian Games, where she won seven gold medals.
