Eduardo Buenavista was a long-distance runner who competed in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics.

He has also won many road races in the Philippines, distance races on previous Southeast Asian Games - the Adidas King of the Road in South Korea and the Adidas King of the Road 2012 in Singapore.

Vertek, as his friends know him, finished 37th in the 3,000 meters Steeplechase event at the 2000 Summer Olympics and finished 67th in the 2004 Athens Olympic marathon. He was a gold medalist in the 3000 m Steeplechase and 5000 meters events at the 2001 SEA Games marathon. He was also a silver medallist in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games in the 10,000m run. He holds the Philippine record for multiple long-distance events. His best marathon time is 2:18:44 hours.
