Carlos Edriel Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast who is also known to be the first Filipino world champion gymnast and first world male champion gymnast from Southeast Asia. During his amateur career, Yulo was able to win a gold medal in the 2011 Philippine National Games and bagged another gold medal at the 14th Junior Asian Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. His professional debut started when he participated in the 2018 Gymnastics World Cup series only at 18 years old. During the same year, he then took home a bronze medal with his floor exercise for the 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Doha, Qatar. Not long after, he was able to garner several medals in the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics competition held in Stuttgart, Germany. During this competition, he won gold medals in the all-around and floor exercise events, and silver medals in the pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar events.

Aside from his previous accomplishments, Yulo also qualified to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where he became the second Filipino qualifier after pole vaulter EJ Obiena. Additionally, he also competed in the 2020 All-Japan Gymnastics Championships where he won two bronze medals. During the event, he finished eighth in the men’s all around, with a total score of 170.032 points.
