Hailing from Davao del Sur, Nesthy Petecio is a featherweight boxer who earned the title of being the first Filipina boxer to win an Olympic medal in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Petecio was able to clinch the silver Olympic medal for the Philippines after defeating Yeni Arias of Columbia and European champion Irma Testa of Italy respectively.

Petecio learned the sport at an early age and caught the attention of the Filipino national team at the young age of 11. She won second place at the 2011 and 2013 Southeast Asian Games, third on the podium at the 2012 Asian Championships, second place at the 2014 AIBA Women's World Championships, and champion at the 2015 Indonesia President’s Cup. Additionally, she earned the title of the women’s boxing world champion at the 2019 World Championships and she capped off the year with a 2019 SEA Games gold.
