Kiyomi Watanabe is a Filipino-Japanese Judoka from Cebu who became the very first Filipina Olympian in Judo after being qualified to represent the country in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Prior to her Olympic debut, she is also a three-time gold medalist for the women’s -63kg division in the 2013, 2017 and 2019 Southeast Asian Games that took place in Myanmar, Kuala Lumpur and Manila respectively.

Among her accomplishments, she bagged a bronze medal when she first competed for the 2011 SEA Games in Jakarta; a silver medal in the 2018 Asian Games; a gold medal in the Asian Open Women’s Judo Championship in Taipei; a silver medal in the European Open Women’s Judo Championship in Austria; and a bronze medal in the Paris Grand Slam, which is part of the International Judo Federation World Tour Grand Prix series organized by the IJF. In 2021, Watanabe was also ranked 41st in the world for her weight class ranking with 1,506 points.
