Samantha Catantan was born on February 1, 2002, she began her fencing at the age of nine joining the Quezon City Sports Enhancement Program. She earned a spot on the national team at just 15. Her Olympic debut at Paris 2024 as the first Filipino fencer to compete in the Olympics since 1992, putting up a strong fight with 15–12 to top seed and two-time world champion Arianna Errigo of Italy in the round of 32 of the women’s individual foil at the Grand Palais.
