Aira Villegas was born on August 1, 1995 in Tacloban. She began her boxing journey at age nine under the influence of her Kuya Rominick, who was a promising boxer and Leyte Sports Academy scholar who initially trained her for fun. After her run at the Paris 2024 Olympics, she secured a bronze medal in the women’s 50kg division after ending in the semifinals, where she faced Türkiye's second seed Buse Naz Cakiroglu.
